I am glad I saw your bulletin, Andy, as I was wondering if there was
something wrong with my FT817 that caused the battery to run flat so
quickly. The first time it happened I thought the battery was US and
replaced it. Fortunately the batteries are easy to get and relatively
cheap as they are the same battery that runs some of the toy cars and
suchlike models that the kids play with now.
When I use the FT817 in the shack I run my 13.8 volt supply to it.
