Proper garages check with a torque wrench. The 1st time I saw this done at
a garage was a branch of CostCo in 2001, the torque values were recorded on
the bill. The last 3 times I have had tyres fitted the garage has checked
with a torque wrench. That's at 3 different garages... I wonder if there's
been some ruling from a court case where a garage was sued for doing a
rubbish job such that the garages are now covering their backs legally
rather than just doing a good job anyway?

Yes you can. You can hold the end furthest from the wheel to support the
spider and apply force with your foot. It helps if you have sufficient mass
too. I've big enough to have my on weather system! The supplied tyre
spanner on my last two Hondas is a snug fit to the nuts and long enough
that you can stand on that easily.

Wondeful stuff but LB10 does if you're pushed. I'm still upset from the
last time I bought Copper Slip, I had a brand new tube to hand whilst
changing the front pads and I moved and knelt on it. Considering how
expensive it is, to see the contents jet out across the front drive brough
tears to my eyes. Not made that mistake again. Keep the lid on unless
dispensing contents!

I like the way of removing locking nuts without the key. But that will only
work if you have a nut that is solid. I had some nuts on my old Opel Manta
GT/E that had an outer concentric shield that rotated freely to stop you
doing that. You needed a "sort of" Allen key to undo them.
