From past experiance, I would not use of the lense cleaning disks. In
fact it does not sound like a problem with a dirty heat at all. Sounds
like either there is a problem with the circuitry, or a problem with the
video RCA Jack. As you may have experienced with faulty or dammaged
disks, what you would end up is a corrupted MPEG frame, you would notice
areas of the picture that become distorted, since it sounds from your
discription that the picture is fine, but the color is fading, I would
surmise that there is a problem with the Chroma signal AFTER the digital
image is decoded.
