Probably a bit late to tell you about it, but KR1ST also has a similar
program at http://www.kr1st.com/kissgen.htm

I've received the Trimble SQ receiver but need some programming
assistance. I have the interface circuit up, but I need a program to
access the serial port as even-parity, 8-bits, 1-stop. What I would like
is a program that does a couple of things.
1. monitor the port in this configuration to confirm the interface
circuit is working properly.
2. write minor code to the port to convert it to NMEA output
When all is working well, I'll post the results and program for all to
access. This is a neat GPS receiver, when combined with the antenna,
will fit into a 1" x 1" x 0.5" volume. I see this as a great thing to
combine with a PocketTracker for an ultra-light and ultra-small system.
Please contact me if you can help.

opentrac packets.

Anyone remember the mic-e extruded alum enclosure? how about the KAM plus
and KPC4 cases? Where can extruded lengths of box tubing such as these be
found?
Just for fun, I'm thinking about putting my MFJ data radio (in the attic
for 5 years) in the same box as TNC-x for an all in one solution.

One possible cheap source for this would be old Supra modems (old ones, not
the new plastic ones). Models like the Supra FaxModem 144, 288, 336, etc.
all used this extruded aluminum enclosure, and as a plus, the backplate has
openings for DB-25, RJ11, and power...

Hammond's got some: http://www.hammondmfg.com/1455.htm
I'll probably use something like the one on the top right for my new TNC
project. They were nice enough to send me a free sample, even.
Digi-Key carries most of their stuff, but it's not particularly cheap.
Around $xx each in small quantities, I think.
And that one on the right DOES look a lot like an old Supra modem...

I have no problem using a USB to serial adapter for the MCP. I just got
the D7A at Dayton and Sunday did the USB to Serial thing and loaded the
memories onto the D7A.

I have now added this manual TH-D7 (table) position reporting method to
APRSdos version 864 (available on TAPR). The system is summarized on this
web page:
http://www.ew.usna.edu/~bruninga/D7points.html
It should be very useful where you have lots of D7's but GPS's on walking
humans is difficult or impossible. de WB4APR, Bob

APRSdos lives!. We used it this last weekend because, again, we found
other systems lacking in one aspect or another of LOCAL real-time
situational awareness for our special event.
For those of you who have not used it in several years, here is a summary
of the typical NEWNOTES.TXT file which shows what has been updated since
2000.
APRS864: (May'04)
*Added powerful TH-D7 manual position capability.
APRS863: (Jan'04)
* New WAYPOINT for MOBILES! Plots your vehicle
AND your destination on the map with a line between
them. See new MOBILE.TXT
* Compiled APRSmax ver APRSx63 can hold >300 stations.
APRS862: (Dec'03)
* New Mile Mark data file and format. Locates
stations or objects by Interstate Mile Marker alone
* Identifies all active IGates by drawing their PHG circle
* Objects automatically stop xmitting after MaxTime
* Added symbols for MODIS, Shelter and ICP
APRS860 (Dec'03) First release in over a year
* Changed to shareware. No validation required.
* Added HOOKED-HEIGHT. Lets you determine Altitude
by simply entering an elevation angle to an object.
* New MILEMARK function displays circles not lines
(see MILEMARK.TXT)
APRS852 2 July 2002
* Changed PHG circles to defualt for mobiles at 50% range
* FIxed net-cycle timing for WIDEn-N
* Added LOOKUP.EXE for help by "topic"
APRS848 27 Sept 2000
* Added Parallel port I/O! Useful for remote control
of your shack or station from a TH-D7 HT
See I-O.TXT
To instal APRS864.zip , simply create an APRS directory
and PKUNZIP -DN the file. Then read any of the 60+
text files in the README directory. Particularly
INSTALL.TXT
APRS.TXT
HELP.TXT
DEMOS.TXT
etc...

Care to be more specific? You're slamming everything else in one shot

Can anyone confirm for if the UHF side is muted when the VHF side is
transmitting on a Kenwood D7A? Wanted to make sure of this before I bought
one as I'd also like to use it on the SATs as well. Also, about how much
are these radios used? I see one now on eBay for $288.00 (current bid).
Thanks,
Eric KF4OTN
