Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.

I'm looking for a spray on conformal coating product for PCB's. I want
to protect some circuits in a marine environment and am looking for
something I can spray on the board after the components are in and the
board has been tested - burned in.

Any advice is appreciated..

Dow has good stuff, MG is probably easier to buy.

Whatever this 1-wire weather station board is coated in, it works well. I
accidentally shorted 12 volts to the data line the other day and toasted a
couple of chips. The conformal coating on them bubbled up, but it was still
a pain to remove. The stuff I normally use is soluble in alcohol. This
stuff's not.

APRSdos SOURCE released:

Sorry, some private emails were offended by my criticism of the lack of
fundamental features in many existing APRSclones. Remember, I too am a
frustrated user of APRS in the field who cannot find a program that does
what I think needs to be done at a real-time local RF event. Some think I
am just pushing APRSdos.

This it not true. I have posted the source code on the APRS errata page,
because I have no economic interest in it. It no longer requires
registration..

I simply want an APRS program that does what I need. NONE OF THEM,
including APRSdos does -what-I-need- in the field. (my maps as-is are
inadequate, or, take too much hand work to make local ones)..

http://www.ew.usna.edu/~bruninga/aprs/errata.html

Also, I am not pushing the source at all. It is a classic example of
unfettered, un documented program growth and being in BASIC, is probably
useless to anyone. But if someone wants to hack at it to fix the simple
issues that can be done under power-basic, etc, then please feel free:
1) Bust through the 640 K DOS memory limit
2) Be able to use all comm ports and the internet
3) Be able to run under windows better...

I have asked Bob off and on to let me do a simple conversion of APRSDOS to
Java so that we'd all get the benefit of the algorithms and techniques he
has developed over the years, on more OSes in a more graphically rich
environment.

I will be starting that task now, as I have time. If anyone is interested
in helping with this project, please drop me a private note. If there is
enough interest in helping, I'll create a sourceforge or java.net project.

I can tell you I just bought mine at Dayton NEW for $299. Wait for a
hamfest where retail vendors will be in attendance as you should get a good
discount there.

Does anyone know the status of the collection of tiger maps by state at
xastir.tamu.edu? The server seems to have disappeared a few days ago. Is
this the best location for the processed 2003 Tiger files, or is there an
alternative?

That'd be consistent with a student going home for the summer. We
finished classes a week ago.

Hmmm. If I can track him down I can host that for a while.

It works for me, I am there at this minute! All States are listed. I am
downloading IL.zip now!

Best Regards,

Robbie

It still looks fine to me; I can access it and everything.

It's being hosted by a staff member at TAMU, not a student, so it should
stay up throughout all student-throughput.

Well, I got up, went down the hall to the chemical closet and pulled out
two spray cans:

Chemtronics "KonForm" Part #CTAR-12
TechSpray "Fine-L-Kote" Silicone conformal coating Part# 2102-12S

I also asked the tech if he had any opinions, he didn't so your on your own.

3) The FILE must exist on THIS client.
4) The file must be "enabled".

Bob, I'm thinking wrt legacy applications and other users who might get that
data from the air and wonder WTF they'd gotten. Would it add an extra
"safety" and recognition factor to your list, if you changed item #5 from
being any "out of area" location to a specific bogus location? Or, would you
use a range of invalid lat/lons such as 370W 99N and then set up your
software to recognize those as meaning "not on this earth" rather than just
throwing them out or rolling them over?

I'm not sure whether that would help or hurt in the bigger picture but at
least it could give "certified" software an automatic way to recognize
"Private lat/lon range, special handling". Leaving just a minor exercise for
the programmer to deal with.<G>

Would that be of any use?
