Steve,
I did not see mention of which Garmin unit. For the circular 4-pin
connectors, do a search for purple connector. This is a goo source for the
connector. For the eTrex units, I have made up a connector with some parts
around the house that works well.

I can send the eTrex cable design around the 29th when I get back to my
home computer if you wish for the design. I built up a connector, took good
pics and measurements. Material is an old credit card, dremel (works better
than xacto), wire, and some Centronix connector pins.

I used regular wire.

I have been off the sig for a while .

i am looking to buy the premolded cable with a 2.5 mm male on one end and
open wires on the other.

Will someone please send me a source for the good flexible three
conductor cable that will connect my garmin gps data out to the th-d7
data in?

I can make my own cable but I am having trouble finding the super flex
lightweight wire such as the one that came with my th-d7.

i don't want to cut up my existing cable with the male 2.5 mm connector i
got with the rig, as i already have it connected to a garmin connector, so i
need another cable.

find my current location at http://map.findu.com/kd8s

The ORB flight from near Tulsa cancelled due to the landing site being in a
remote area. NSTAR near Omaha scrubbed its launch after the balloon got
away during the fill procedure. EOSS is in flight now, but no data
received at FindU since about 1615 UTC.

Purple is a good source for both the round and flat Garmin connectors and
cables.

Ok, I liked the TT2 because all I did was plug in power, PTT, audio, the
GPS, use Byron's little program and I was off.

The KPC3+ is a bit more complex. LTP settings and all this stuff.... Too
bad there isn't a simple little interface to take care of configuration
besides plugging it in and then disconnecting the program... At any
rate... I THINK I might have it set up. Maybe someone could help me out.

Is the packet it sent out most recently. (or tried, I'm also havign audiop
problems).

Is this at aLL correct? Can someone plot this on a map and tell me what city
it shows me in? (hint, it's not a very BIG city... )

While im asking questions, what is the command to spit out ALL settings?
This might help as I could hit that and post a list of how I haveit set up
at the time.

Thanks
Ken, KC9UMR... Not on findu yet.

Got to my website APRS page at:
      http://members.aol.com/wa8lmf/aprs/index.htm

and look for the item "KPC3+ Initialization File" .

This links to a heavily-annotated text file that you can open in any
ASCII editor, modify to suit your needs, and then upload as-is into the
TNC. Use the ASCII file UPLOAD command of any terminal program used to
connect to the TNC.

At the prompt from a basic ASCII terminal (i.e. HyperTerm, Procomm,
etc)connected to the TNC :

DISP

Set the text file logging ON in your terminal program to capture the
flood of text that will scroll off the top of the screen as a result.

1) Do you have the GPS mode properly selected in the D700 menus (i.e.
"NMEA" [ normal 4800 8-N-1 ]or "NMEA 9600" [ 9600 baud 8-N-1 ] rather
than "None"

2) Do you have the beacon mode properly selected in the D700 menus
(i.e. "Automatic" rather than "Manual" or "PTT" ?

3) Do you have the beacon actually turned on? "Beacon" should be
flashing at the top of the display if everything is set right --AND--
you actually have a GPS at the correct baud rate connected.

4) Could you possibly have the serial RXD and TXD lines of the GPS
connector cable accidentally reversed?

Is this what you asking about?

http://www.aprs.net/wx-pic.html

This is an old and pretty much obsolete project, AFAIK only two were ever
built, both by me, one I donated for w6pkt-3, where it is still on the air.

Hope you don't want the source code, I doubt I have it any longer...

Google is your friend: aprs weather pic

Which was a topic at the 2001 DCC, and also contains the term "PIC-WX"

Here is one that requires a Peat:

The TAPR PIC-E site has some source:
