Subject: [miaprs] KPC 3+ V9.0

Well, my KPC 3+ arrived for our Wide area digi here in Calhoun
County. I printed the KPC setup file from the MIAPRS web site and
was wondering if a V9.0 3+ uses the same setup? This one that I got
from R & L is a Version 9.0. I assume so but thought that I had
better check. Is there anything else that I sould make sure that I
set right? Thanks again for the help and look for us online soon!

It looks like Roger is going to look at some kind of toggle or adjustment
for UI-View to take care of this. I hope the other program authors (Curt,
Sprouls, Brent) will do the same. Thanks guys!

With the return of PCsat to power negative (unuseable except lucky midday
packets), we have activated the internal KPC-3 BBS on Sapphire (NO-45).
Thus, it can be used for conventional AX.25 1200 baud access and
digipeating.

DIGIPEATING PATH: UNPROTO APRS VIA KE6QMD
BBS CALLSIGN: CONNECT to KE6QMD-1

Sapphire (NO45) is just like PCsat except that it requires your TNC to
listen on the UHF 437.100 downlink +/- almost 10 KHz of Doppler and to
transmit up on 2 meters on 145.945. The downlink is weak, but I copy
packets on a 6" whip on the 2 passes a day above 20 degrees... Your
Kenwood TH-D7 HT should similarly capture packets on its rubber duck on
those same high passes.

Digipeated packets appear on pcsat.aprs.org if they are heard by SATgates
on frequency. BBS packets are not. So it would be nice if someone
periodically downloaded a message list and posted it so that everyone
would not have to loggon and get the same redundant list. In fact, this
would be an ideal AUTOMATIC WEB page if someone would write it. It just
captures ALL DIRECOTRY packets heard on the LIVE worldwide APRS internet
stream and sorts them in to a live-current DIRECTORY on the web page...

The web page for operating Sapphire is the same as for PCsat:

And on Win2000Pro, I had my computer lock up on boot up when the USB
adapter was connected to a MFJ-1270B running 9600 on the serial port.

Apparently Windows recognized it as the "crash on demand" hardware
key...only logical explanation, right?

I have been trying to get an icon to showup on the heard sites for both
PCSat and ISS. I haven't had any luck. I use >EN80xc\S as it shows on
wb4apr's site, to show a satellite, but it is not showing up. I figure if
it is not working there then is isn't working in the APRS network. What am
I doing Wrong??

Thanks

Un-compress your packet and it will work. It is recommended that people run
Compressed packets for the PcSAT, however. I read that somewhere!
As you can see, findu has a hard time with them. The pcsat page is full of
no symbols showing.....including Bob's.
I would not worry about it too much, not your problem!

How do you un-compress the packets? This is new to me.

Well, that was my proposed grid square format which is a combination of
the STATUS format and GRIDSQUARE format. But, I dont think many authors
included it. I think it is only in APRSdos, the Kenwoods and maybe a few
others, but I dont think it is in FINDU maybe...

Try the older format (that is not comaptible with the Kenwoods) and see if
it works [EN80xc] but it wont show an ICON.
