Unfortunately not. That's one of the items I posed to the author on a
wish list about this time last year, along with the ability to play a
sound effect when the program sees your own callsign digipeated ala
D700/TH-D7.
[ I have recorded the two-tone beeps the Kenwoods make into a Windows
..wav file, and have used it with APRSplus to make it sound like the
Kenwoods. ]
The TNCs APRSce supports (in command mode) "out -of-the-box" are:
TNC2 & clones
KPC3+
KPC9612+
AEA PK-232
Kenwood TH-D7 and D-700 including support for the "Mode 7" combined
GPS/TNC receive data stream on single serial port (i.e. where you plug
the GPS into the radio's second, dedicated GPS port and it's data then
gets echoed out the main serial port along with TNC RX data.
The TNC init file is a basic text file, and can be easily edited in any
ASCII text editor to accomodate other TNC init strings.
For maximum ease, edit the TNC init file in the full-size PC before
downloading.
For maximum masochism and aggravation, edit it in Pocket Word on the ce
device....

I notice the AMSAT contributions (thermometer) went up about $2k in the 10
days since this appeal appeared on the APRS sig. Great work! Only $62k
to go...

Fabulous prizes! (not)
Last chance to get in your responses to the APRS User Survey!!! The
deadline for submitting your survey is TOMORROW!
Surveys received after 00 UTC 16 JAN 03 will be deleted without viewing.
So far I've received over 50 responses. I'd like to thank those who have
encouraged others not on the APRSSIG to respond.
The responses received so far seem to reflect the distribution of the
population based upon locale and what I have observed on national maps
over the past few years. A preponderance of respondents live east of the
Mississippi River.
There have been very few responses from the west coast or from the
region between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains.
While the distribution of respondents appears to be a good random
distribution I would still like to receive responses from users
particularly west of the Mississippi River.
The deadline is absolute and the time-stamp on the email will be used to
determine whether the responses will be included in the data set.
Responses are to be sent to jdbandman@hotmail.com. Please do NOT send
them to my earthlink.net address.
Thanks!

Greetings from: KB7PUX-7
954.7 miles northeast of PORT AUX FRANCAIS, KERGULEN IS.
Course: 13.0 Speed: 54.1 MPH Altitude: 2778 feet
Although I have every confidence in my Jeep, this location, speed, and
altitude seems unlikely.
I have a TT3 and an Oncore GT 8 channel in an aluminum box with the
McKinney interface board. The inputs to the box are power, GPS active
antenna, and audio from the Kenwood TH-22. Output is the TT3 data and
keying to the TH-22. I am showing up all over the planet on FINDU, and
moving at 821 mph in the parking lot. The rig has been checked with a
service monitor and is nearly dead on, and not overmodulating. I have
switched from full text to MIC-e and seem to have the same, if not
worse, problems. Monitoring the data out of the Oncore seems to place
blame there, as well as the observed results. Running Smartbeaconing, I
should report position every 90 minutes at rest. I am reporting much
more often because the TT3 is getting junk. The junk consists of
truncated strings (recorded with Hyperterm, and imported into Excel),
and strings with 'missing' text. I have to try recording without RF
active next, I suppose, though that seems an unlikely cause - the TT3
has to get the data from the GPS before it keys up.... The wiring
harness feeding the 'system' is a nightmare, at best. Six feet of lamp
cord feeding an assortment of cig. lighter splitters to power the
TT3/GPS, and another feeding the TH-22 and a Radio Shed 2M amplifier
that is mostly turned off.
Any thoughts, helpful suggestions, or things to try would be welcome.
I'm at wit's end. I will cross-post this to APRSsig and TinyTrak.
Regards,
Mike Galgano

Shouldn't the TT3 be rejecting GPS data with bad checksums? I'll have to
plug mine in and feed it some bogus data to see if it's checking or not.
Mike, could you send me a capture of the GPS data, off-list? I'd like to
see in what manner it's messed up, and it might be handy to have some
genuine trashed NMEA data to stress-test my OpenTracker with.

Man, you better slow down! You're going to crash!
or
Ummmm, the wonderful Oncore! Where is your Sat antenna? Oncores are
antenny sensitive...to the extreme.

Today, I finally had some success in sending to Sapphire and receiving and
gating packets from the Sapphire Sat!
Frank, and a few others gave it a try but only Frank and myself made it
today. I had an 85 degree pass today and these are the packets copied and
sent to the IS.
It would sure be nice if more folks were attempting this! Is has be a
challenge with this bird.

I sent this from my car with 1/4 wave whip and D700. I waited for the
PCSAT pass to end then sent beacons.
I heard Sapphire traffic on 437.100 on my other channel.
