Thanks to all who responded to my question about rigs.

Got my FT1500 today... Now, I just need to find a place to mount it...
Got a couple ideas... So much stuff in my truck already, im runnign out of
room... Really just need to get a Gall's unit or something :)

For the price, this rig is really nice!! And it's hard to believe that it's
only *SLIGHTLY* bigger than my TNC!!!

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, now to just figgure out the cabling from
my standard to the Mini-DIN...

Also (sortof OT...), has anyone had any experience computer programming
these things? Can I use the cable from my VX7 with an adaptor? (I plan on
trying, just need to find some parts)

Thanks
Ken

I'm not sure I understand you.

Smartbeaconing can determine when you are stopped (by gps input) and adjust
your beacon rate accordingly.

This is how smartbeaconing is implemented on the Hamhud. When your speed
drops below a certain value (user settable) the hamhud sets your beacon rate
to slow (user settable as well).

Just for "what it's worth".... those of you with kenwood d700's may wish to
program your kenwoods with normal 1 or 3 minute beacon rates in PM1, and
program PM2 with a non-100hz PL tone (so your speaker still remains quiet,
yet no one else's rig will play your packets on speaker), a longer TX
interval, and a shorter path.

Yes there is a low speed threshold. It does not beacon when you arrive at
the low speed (as you decelerate), but I made my implementation for the
d700 do that.
