Is it possible for the FireNet servers to have a status port, that gives
information like the other servers? I might be helpful to end-users, so
they can trouble shoot their own connections by viewing their own
settings.
I'm referring to status port 14501 that gives detailed information on each
connected user. Examples:
http://aprswest.net:14501 (tier 2)
http://socal.aprs2.net:14501 (tier 2)
http://third.aprs.net:14501 (core)
http://first.aprs.net:14501 (core)

The status port is a function of the server software. I do allow access to
the 14501 status port for the ports serviced by the Java APRS server. AHub
(the other APRS server running at clspco.firenet.us) provides its status on
port 14601, which I have choose not to make available.
Whether or not these ports open or remain open depends on their use or
rather the abuse they receive.
