Did you also check the Errata sheet. There have been several map symbols
added to the symbols section....ICP - Incident Command Post, MOE - MODIS
Earth Observation, Skywarn, etc.
UI-View and Xastir have these and I am not sure of the others.

One thing nice about UI-View is you can make them any size you want and use
the Mysmb files for your own use while maintaining the originals in the
symbol files. Many of mine are way smaller than 16 x 16....which IMHO is
still too big on a crowded map.

Many areas set up HAM patrols to police haloween. Dont overlook
monitoring the FRS radio channels for activity...
We encourage kids to get on the air. As HAMS, we need to help in the
education of the public about proper radio technique whether it is on the
HAM bands or elsewhere. Just never criticize over the air....

What's the power consumption of a TT3 with all of the LEDs disabled? I've
still got the LEDs enabled on mine with the default resistors, so I know
it's way over the minimum.

Hi,
My aprs laptop, a Toshiba 405CS has lost it CMOS battery. Can someone
help me by pointing me to how to get to the battery??
I have everything except the back left corner loose and can not find why
the two halves won't seperate to get at the battery.
This little laptop has really served me well and I hate to give up on
it as it is just the right size for my aprs work while in the car..
Thanks,
Robbie

All right, all you PK-12 experts --
My PK-12 has done something nutty. All I can get from it is gibberish,
and the following LEDS are lit all the time -- DCD, CON, STA, and
MAIL. I've tried resetting the thing by pulling JP-1 and removing external
power, to no avail.
I've also tried sending *'s, thinking perhaps it was in the old "autobaud"
routine. So far, I haven't been able to get anything to change.
Any help would be appreciated...

And now, for no obvious reason, it's working again. Anybody have
an idea what just happened here?
Thanks again,

Not sure if the PK-12 has an autobaud function, but the PK-88 will do that
until it has successfully completed its autobaud routine.

Revised SMART-DIGI directives list:
This list adds a list of the frequently used callsign-substituting aliases
to the list of DIGICALLS I am making up for the ERRATA page:
http://www.ew.usna.edu/~bruninga/aprs/errata.html
SMART DIGI DIRECTIVES:
Directives are pseudo-path names that are inserted on the end of an APRS
user's digipeater path to serve as a signal to the network of any special
handling requirements. Here are several of the ones in use:
NOGATE - IGates should igonre these packets
RFONLY - IGates should ignore these packets (why do we have 2?)
IGATE - Smartdigi may substitute shortest path to nearest IGate
ISTATE - Smartdigi may substitute a LINKn-N along an interstate
LAN - Smartdigi may substitute local LANn-N name
LINK - Smartdigi may substitute an optimum LINKn-N path
EOC - Smartdigi may substitute shortest path to nearest EOC
SKYWRN - Smartdigi may substitute preferred skywarn path
WX - Smartdigi may substitute preferred local WX path
NOAUTO - Smartdigi should do NOTHING to this path
CALLSIGN SUBSTITUTING ALIASES:
All digis in the APRS system are supposed to do callsign substitution when
they digipeat the common GENERIC APRS path callsigns of RELAY and WIDE.
But since most digipeaters can support an additional 2 such generic calls,
for use in special local applications, the following list shows several
that are in use:
RELAY - In all digis
WIDE - in all high, wide area digipeaters
SS - Two letter state abbreviation
SAR - Special Search and Rescue digipeaters
SKY - Special SKYWARN digipeaters
ARES - Special ARES digipeaters
RACES - Special RACES digis
For example, a packet in a SAR area might be VIA RELAY,WIDE,SAR or
VIA RELAY,SAR,SAR, or VIA SAR,SAR,SAR. All of these would go 3 hops in
the area of a bunch of SAR digis, but no further. Thus QRM is limited to
the area of interest only and not beyond. Even if the sender used
SAR,SAR,SAR,SAR,SAR... the packet will still only hit the same number of
local digis...
Any others?
