Of course this will require that the IGATE include it's status in it's
beacon..... every 10 minutes, right? net cycle time.... and if the local
smart digi hasn't heard a status from the IGATE in 2 net cycles (in case
there was a collision and the previous status beacon didn't get heard),
then it will not reroute packets to the igate. Of course if an igate sends
a status which indicates it is not gating any traffic, that takes it off
the "reroute" list right away.

I was wondering if someone would comment on this -- I should have known it
would be you, Bob <smile>.
Wouldn't it be cool if APRS had a system that would "RF-sniff the APRS air"
of a given region and also "chastize you severely for doing that path"?
That's the idea behind the APRSteward proposal. Think of APRSteward as an
APRSdos-type system that can be used to inform users of their errors and
-in effect- reign-in the personality that other APRS software titles are
allowed exhibit.
It's the old "end-user education thing" that keeps coming up.

Solve charging problems with your RV's multi-battery system with a Sure
Power Multi-Battery Isolator. Heavy-duty heat sink design features rugged
battery and alternator studs. Allows maintenance-free and deep cycle
batteries to be independently charged and discharged as needed. Keeps both
your coach and chassis batteries fully charged by allowing proper current
control for each battery bank. Engineered and rated so that either battery
leg will handle total alternator rating. Compatible with all high amp
alternators. USA.
I havent tried it but have considered it for some time. Probably wont do
it till I run down the battery in the car a couple more times and get
stranded somewhere. Oh well thats what AAA is for isnt it... And the usual
disclaimers of no interest in the product/company
