I can't post to the APRSsig group yet, can you pass on this message for me?

I fly balloons (44 so far) and have launched an Aware RM-60 Geiger counter
on many missions. I'm including a graph of Geiger counter readings to
111,000 feet.

I have found going from the external speaker jack to a cassette converter
into the tape deck of the car gives good user control over the sound of an
HT. You can also adjust treble/bass response to suit your desire. You can
also adjust them for some noise canceling properties. By far the best is a
little noise canceling/speaker unit made by SGC for about $139.00. It works
great!!

When you do an alt-S-SAVE, it will remember that map and come back up on
that map...

BUT if you save with GPS configured, then APRSdos will -not- come up with
an initial map until it gets a GPS coordinate. This was because I would
find myself in Dayton and each time I turned it on, it would come up with
the default MAP which was NOT where I was at the time.

Actually, I think later programs will default to the MAP that is in the
current BACKUP file. So in that case, hit FILE-SAVE-B to save the map...

Given the many learned folks here on the SIG... and the fact that I can't
find the info in the Kenwood manual... I'd like to know the following:

What is the voltage level coming out of the D700 on the GPS port (i.e. from
the data out line of the D700 GPS port).

I ask this question, as the DigiTraveller GPS won't turn on unless it
"see's" a positive voltage on it's receive line. Some question exists
about the exact voltage needed... as well as if the D700 puts it out
already - on the correct line..

TNX in advance...

It's enough to trigger the Digitraveler.

Yes, the D700 does this and can slice tin cans too, but you wouldn't want
to (slice tin cans with a D700 that is).

Allan,

I have two of the RS receivers and the little green led comes on as
soon as I turn on the D-700. I did not try it with the radio not in the
APRS mode however. Wire the thing up and for get it.. It works much
faster than my Rand McNally on getting a sync from the sats...

How does one setup APRS+SA as an IGATE server? In version 2.21 under
Internet setup, it has a box for IGATE Path, but I've been unable to find
anything in any help docs on APRS+SA that says what goes here.
