Medals? I wear mine about once a year when the Commonwealth Honours
Association has its annual parade and dinner. Three are war medals awarded
for army service during WW2 and of little sentimental value to me, but the
other was the Order of Australia awarded in the Queen's Birthday Honours
List for services to music, sport and church. I guess my grandson prizes
the war medals more than I do.

The flag? Well flags were flown mainly on Government buildings including
schools until the republicans forced a referendum to decide whether Oz
became a republic or remained a monarchy. There was also a discussion in
the news media as to whether the flag should be changed to get rid of the
Union Jack in the corner of the flag. The referendum was solidly defeated
particularly in this state. The flag? Ha! Ha! now everyne flies it. It can
be seen on buildings and on private houses throughout this state. Seems it
needed a shakeup like a suggestion that we ditch it to make pepople
conscious of it and start flying it.
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.

"Gonging" as is the Royal Navy term for medals follows I think the
other of the services, as yes agreed we don't need medals for a job
we signed on to do. Other countrys "gong" like even for everything.

Like the flag... they wave it like crazy south of here, and recently
some government hack was upset that Cannucks didn't do this like
their neighbours to the south, so it seems these days there is
flags flying everywhere.
