I have been using my Collins station console (which includes a phone patch)
for digital modes for nearly 3 years now. You can beat ground loops, IMD,
etc. with this setup, and control is up front, where it should be.
Ricardo, HK4BHA
BTW, you can use any phone patch, not sure about autopatches (!)

I guess *any* autopatch should work then? I have a big old one from a
Yeasu FT-101E, and one Kenwood PC-1A. I will have to try it.

Hello,
I would like to experiment PSK31 in the 2 meters band
and want to know what frequencies are useable.
I saw some messages speaking about 144.600 but also
about 144.305.
I would like to make some tests in USB but also in FM mode.
What do you think about that ?
Thank you for any suggestions or comments.

Hello Pascal,

We use in Holland 144.600 USB ( for Psk31, Amtor, Pactor, Feldhell, Mt63
etc) and sometimes 144.660 (when 144.600 is QRM-ed bij FM fone) or 144.333
MHz ( which is allowed for the Dutch D-licence (like PD0xxx) USB).

Can run 100 watts with 12 db Yagi (horizontal) towards you, so an Psk31 ( or
other mode) QSO could be possible.
Can be QRV this evening at about 2100 local ( 1900 UTC).
My QTH locator is JO22LI, QTH Diemen ( close to Amsterdam).

Subject: Re: [psk31] 60 Hz hum

Well, as someone pointed out to me, I had both sides of the
isolation transformers connected to a common ground. Not
much good if you want to isolate the sound card from the
tcvr.

So I separated the grounds, but was told the hum was still
there. For the heck of it, I unplugged the interface from the
computer end (line in, line out and serial port connections)
and left the DIN connector plugged into the IC-756. Still
was having problems with noise!

After I finished my QSO, another station, whose operator
happened to work for ICOM, called me. He said this was
a known issue with the IC-756 and some other Icoms
with that same type of setup. He also said there was a
10k ohm resistor across the mic input on the accessory
jack and that I may have a impedance mismatch problem.
He suggested using the microphone input on the front
of the rig instead of the accessory jack.

I still have some other things I can try. For now, I'm just
going to attach a short length of cable to the accessory
jack with a female DIN connector on the end so I can
easily disconnect the psk31 interface when I'm not using
it. BTW, the interface has been working FB for psk31.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I'll post a
message if/when I've fixed this.

Jeff KI0RO

I have a Pentium 1 machine that boots up to give the current year as 2094!
I've been working around that by using a web time server (I'm on cable) and
all was well. Something went wrong and the date was back at 2094 and
DigiPan did not like to be so far in the future. It received fine but when
I clicked the TX button it went into TX for a second or so and then gave me
an error message and I had to close the program. WINPSK and HELL worked
fine but any version of DigiPan kept crashing. If I reset the date all is
well.

I'll send the details to Nick and perhaps he can figure out what is happening.

Jim Lyons, VE2KN

PS the same sort of thing happened when I tried to send an open letter from
Eudora 3. If I sent it from the Index it went out fine. Such are the
mysterious ways of computers.
