C'mon you chaps (or guys, take your pick), give us a break from all of this
quoting previous messages, you only need to quote the pertinent parts.
Some of you are sending out messages which quote every last iota of a persons
message including the "unsubscribe" details at the bottom etc etc. Who needs
to read any more than is absolutely necessary to understand the thread ?? Most
of us have already read the message to which you are replying anyway !!!
Like I said, GIVE US A BREAK, we're not all as thick as two planks !!!

Subject: [psk31] Audio Cables
Hi, all. Just wanted to share an experience that might help other PSK31
newcomers. I have been having rf problems with my very simple audio and
PTT arrangements with an FT-920 (using the data connector) and a Toshiba
laptop computer. Expected to have to introduce some additional parts for
isolation (e.g. transformers, baluns, etc.). First, though, I replaced
the two audio cables with rf coax cables and all my rf problems cleared
up. Didn't help my typing, though.

I always use RG174 for audio and PTT cables. Have never had an RFI problem.

I wonder if anyone has comments about the RIGblaster product from
Westmountain Radio. It is reportedly a gizmo that has all you need to get
on PSK31 , just plug and play. One thing that I noticed is that it does NOT
use accessory jacks on the back of a radio, rather they use the mic
connectors.

PSK'ers:
My favorite audio cable is RG-174/U, otherwise
known as "Thin-LAN" cable. It has dropped in
price quite a bit since being used for Ethernet.
A 500 ft or 1,000 ft roll is nice to have in stock.
I believe it is 50-Ohm RF coax and it works
great for audio, plus shields very well.

Yep, that stuff was used a lot in the airborne radar's that I worked on over
the years and I've used it for radio projects a whole bunch since I could
scrounge it. It is 50 ohm.
