Hello there : winPSKse.exe AE4JY/KA1DT
May I add a few comments about that psk software?
When I started PSK (after 34 years of DX RTTY!) I loaded several tests
including this one(earlier version).
Let me say that 2 RX displays are really very usefull as we can monitor a
QSO and wait it's end and call the
wanted station just in time for the best chance to do the contact while
monitoring around ...
I don't thing any other soft is doing that??
I dropped a mail to Moe AE4JY and Dave KA1DT to let them know how great was
my pleasure with their developments.
I suggested also a very few minors suggestions in the displays and let me
say that all are now effectives in the
recent version 1.3.
I am active in DX usually with the 500Hz filter, sometimes 250 if needed
or 2.4Khz for broad monitoring.
That seems for me to be the best for DX PSK31. Moreover, the help menu is
really complete with many pix.

Hi PSK31 friends,
Reading this excerpt below from 8Q7KK's trip report triggered me sending some
thoughts regarding psk31. (Let me know if anyone is interested in reading the
whole report from Peter.)
"A PSK uzemmodban 070 kore csoportosult mindenki, es eu sajat maganak olyan
qrm-et csinalt, hogy csak egymassal tudtak QSO-zni. RTTY uzemmodban 14 megan
lehetett jol dolgozni, sikerult egy jo pileup-ot kifogni, meg QSX-et is
kellett
csinalni."
(In PSK mode all concentrated around 070, and Europe has made theirselves so
heavy QRM, that they could only work themselves. RTTY mode brought good run on
14 MHz, furthermore, I managed to build a good pile-up, that even QSX have had
to make.)
I have understood what I suspected for a while. What I cannot understand is
that how ignorance can spread more rapidly than popularity of the mode. Seems
red help highlights and list discussions do not substitute a nation and
society-wide information offensive on more careful approach of practice for
not
only newcomers.
By the way: (without the intention of revelation)
Use of 'on air' help is often limited due to language barriers. I suggest
usage
of cw abbreviations or other relevant resources.
Typical malfunction is RF feedback to the audio circuitry, as it often
shows up
in voice operation. All the well known methods of remedies apply, of course.
In case of doubt about quality of transmission of my own, better to keep power
at the minimum necessary level.
If I cannot qualify the other station's quality, do not mention it at all,
rather then mislead with an optimistic report.
There are other respects - space enough to propose but with probably low
efficiency. Own perspired experiences bring more knowledge than hundreds of
such writings in. In the meantime the rest pays with the lost dx and looks for
other, less disappointing activities.

I WAS BEGINNING TO THINK IT WAS ME. THE SITUATION SADDENS ME, BUT I AM
HAPPY TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE IS ALSO SEEING A PROLIFERATION OF "LIDS".
THE SOFTWARE, FOR THE MOST PART IS FREE. THEY JUST DO NOT CARE NOR
UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE PLAYING WITH. VERY FEW UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT.
THIS INCLUDES THE OLD-TIMERS AS WELL AS THE MORE LEARNED ENGINEERING TYPES.
THEY READ THE "QUICK START" AND STOP THERE. TRUE WITH MANY THERE IS A
LANGUAGE BARRIER. THE SAME THING MANIFESTS WITH THE SO CALLED ENGLISH
SPEAKING INDIVIDUALS.
THERE HAVE BEEN MANY TIMES WHERE I WOULD MAKE A CONTACT TO TELL THE STATION
OF THE PROBLEM HE IS CREATING ONLY TO BE REBUFFED.
PERHAPS MORE 090 090 REPORTS SHOULD BE SENT. MAYBE THEN THEY MIGHT WAKE
UP.
UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS A SIGN OF THE STATE OF OUR HOBBY.

HI to all
Recent postings about bad signals, wide, distorted, extra sidebands
showing etc.
I know this has been talked about many times before, but did bring back
something I seen a little while ago, one station told three others in a row
they were very wide.. when on my display they looked good and imd's were
decent and I wondered why the difference.
A little while later I seen two or three very light traces on my screen
and turned up my receive to get a better trace, just then a strong station
came on he looked very wide an nasty all over the place, when I turned my
receive back down this station now looked very good on display, and the
faint ones were now back to being
faint.
If I would have told that station he was overdriving, had extra sidebands
all over, he would of rebuffed me
and for good reason, I was the one that was at fault for his bad looking
signal.
I would say that any one can make most signals look bad just by playing
with the receive on rig.
So before you play pskcop or just really want to try and help someone,
look and make sure YOU ARE RIGHT FIRST, then help them,
I try to be a good operator, but would of made myself look bad and got
some one mad at me, for something that was my own fault.
