Subject: [psk31] Band Stats
Hi all:
I notice that my PSK & PKT contacts (imported from another program along with
various
other modes) do not show up in the Band Stats window under DIG while the RTTY &
PTOR contacts do. The PSK & PKT contacts do show up in Band Stats when I click
on a
band box. The Band/Mode for 20m is as follows:
20 HF SSTV 14220 14230 SSB
20 HF SSB 14150 14350 SSB
20 HF PKT 14095 14112 RTTY
20 HF RTTY 14080 14095 RTTY
20 HF PTOR 14075 14080 RTTY
20 HF PSK 14070 14075 SSB
20 HF CW 14000 14350 CW
The Digital/Modes include: RTTY PTOR PSK PKT. Yes I did a Recalc.
Did I do something incorrectly or omit a configuration step somewhere along the
line?

Hi,
Digipan uses only RTS for PTT independetly by checking. PSK31SBW uses both
RTS and DTR pins. For univerzal PTT must connect pin 4 on Canon 25 or pin 7
on Canon 9 (RTS). This solution is best for all known programs which are
using serial port for PTT.

Subject: [psk31] New to HF - setting transmit level?
Hi all, I'm just starting out on HF and recently discovered PSK31.
So far I have managed to get WinPSK and TRUETTY running and have been
enjoying receiving only.
The performance of both programs amazes me and I'm looking forward to
transmitting soon.
My question concerns setting the transmitting audio level.
Can the ALC meter be used to help get the audio level into the ballpark?
I have been experimenting with resistors in the audio output from the
soundcard to the MIC jack and have found that about 200k ohms resistance
will keep the ALC in the lower half of the scale when transmitting into a
dummy load.
The manual for my radio (Kenwood TS570D) does not go into detail on what
the ALC meter does and I could used some help understanding it's usage.
Thanks for any help,
Dale

Bring the Tx level up until you just start to get some ALC reading and then
back it off so that the ALC reading goes away. You do not want to have any
ALC action on a PSK signal. Be sure to use the PSK program's "tune" signal
(a single tone) when setting the Tx levels rather than the normal idle
signal.

I read an older mail message on the list archives about the check box
not properly flipping between DTR and RTS. In other words only DTR or
RTS (can't remember which right now) worked. I confirmed this was true
before building my interface box by looking at the DTR and RTS lines
with a voltmeter, and clicking TX with the "Use RTS" box both checked
and unchecked. So when I built my interface box, I put in a switch to
choose between the DTR and RTS so I could accomodate programs that
only did one or the other.
Another issue may be that some other resource thinks is claiming COM1.
Have you tried COM2?

Anyone use this mode on 2 meters.
Had heard that there is some activity on s.s.b.
any thing on packet frequencies or on the 2 m. frequencies.

Allan:
I worked 2M SSB / PSK with Dan WB5TKA (he's on the PSK
e-mail list) in one QSO for about two hours. We discovered
it was perfect copy over the 30-mile path length between
our QTHs. We are in the Dallas / Fort Worth, TX, USA area.
For 2M PSK, we were the only signals on the band, but my
old rig with analog VFO drifted quite a bit. For that reason,
I'd like to ask the software wizards to develop a version
of PSK receiver which will lock onto any PSK signal within
a specified frequency range. This will allow me to tune to
the approximate frequency, monitor the channel, and
print any transmissions without having to tune so precisely.
