Hi,
in agreement George, because somtime I have to give reports like 409 or 509.
s-meter is showing nothing but I can copy a transmission without problems,
so "x db over the noise" will bethe right report.

Subject: [psk31] PSK FB!
Hi,
Just ran PSK31 for the first time and I am hooked. This
is the kind of mode that I have been looking for. Has
anyone tried to run this mode on 6M. It seems like PSK31
has potential as a weak signal mode and may have apps in
VHF+ weaksig work.

Just saw an message with the Prettypark virus attached.
Just Delete the message and go after that (in your Emailprogram) also to
"Deleted Messages" to delete it there too.
Hope nobodoy opened it.

Subject: [psk31] MT63 QRM on 14.070 0330Z 3/11/00?
I was in a psk31 qso on 14.070 tonight when qrm came along and obliterated
the other person's signal. The qrm was not Pactor or any other digital
mode with which I'm familiar. I looked at it on an audio spectrum display
program and it was about 1.5 KHz wide. I think this was qrm from MT63,
but I'm not sure. I thought this wide-band digi mode was supposed to be
used in, or near, the SSB sub-bands, i.e. 14.140 or thereabouts. Has
anyone else been affected by MT63 QRM in the narrowband digi subbands?

Hi Bill,
First, IMHO, it could easily have been someone attempting to
set up PSK31. There have been a few stations still having
interface problems, and stations leaving VOX on and an open
mikes... I personally have not seen nor heard MT63, but I
would be hesitant in suggesting it is and asking how we can
stop it.. I think that MT63 has as much right to 14.070 as
PSK31 does, and that just maybe he was an experiment as the
rest of us, and will learn as we did where to find others or
"our" kind, hi... If it is ignored, it might drift away...
If it needs help, we'll help..

You said it all Duane. An S meter report is useless. I sometimes think
that any report is better than having to explain why I refrain. Hi. I
have heard it said that using as narrow a filter as is available to
eliminate the other stations is acceptable but I don't buy it. Using an
audio filter of any description does not affect the S meter reading.
Also, narrowing the bandpass with the radio I.F. filters will lower the S
meter reading which is not acceptable. With many years of RST reporting
under my belt I question the need for a strength report in any mode. Too
many variables affecting signal strength, not the least of which is the
receiving antenna. How about just reporting readability and IMD.

I don't think this has happened in this list, as I don't permit neither file
attaches, nor executable content... As a secondary effect, when the message
sent to the list comes with a (rather unnecesary) .vcf, .dat or .p7s file, it
doesn't get posted...
