I want to thank the several who sent me postings about the radio-sound card
hook up, in response to my question.
Most of the answers were about the things I do not have a problem with.- I
have an excellent radio for PSK31 (the FT920) that has several fine options
that make it ideal. The manual for the radio has very specific information
about the various port characteristics.
I know how to tune the system, (really, I do) and get good reports re
quality. I am very happy with PSK31 (and the Logger version I use)
All these things do not relate to the question I asked- What are the
impedences of the various ports in typical sound cards?
The ports are usually Line in, Line out, Mic in, speaker out. ( I know
there is usually an internal CD connector, but that is not pertinent) The
manuals (?) for several brands I have checked have nothing- I have checked
several very good Computer hardware references. Nothing.
I assume the speaker out impedance is about 8 Ohms, but the rest are still
a mystery.

Subject: [psk31] Digipan & PTT - How?
Hi all,
Just installed serial port PTT (Com4, DTR). It works well with PSK31SBW,
WinPSK, Logger, Hellschreiber, MT63 Terminal, SSTV etc. Only Digipan does
not work (RTS box is not checked). I tried to change Coms to Com1 for PTT -
all OK but with Digipan no success. Your experiencies are welcomed.

Hi Bill,
As I see it you want to know because you want to know! Seems fair
to me. Best info I have is that on at least one SB card (16/SCSI-2/MCD)
and there's no real reason for them all to be the same, the line out spec.
was 0.8 volts at 10 Kohms. I don't find the other impedances though.
This from "Sound Blaster, The Official Book" by Ridge, Golden, Luk &
Sindorf, pub. Osborne/McGraw-Hill 1994. One of the few places I ever found
ANY hardware info! These sound card people do hold their info very close
to their chests for some daft reason.
