Hello all PSK'ers (who enjoy operating, learning and having fun),
I dont normally get on my soap box via E-mail, I usually like to discuss
these matters face to face, but this stupidity is so far off base
(and subject) it isn't funny.
Let me get this straight...... You dont want anyone promoting PSK
activity on any of the lesser used bands..... RIGHT?????
Next you'll be telling us we cant call CQ on this mode..YEAH, RIGHT!!!
Geez, when I first got on the list here, everyone was griping that
there was no activity on any other bands except 20 meters...
NOW, that people are letting it be known that they're going to try
to scare up some contacts on other bands, people are suddenly
offended by that... Take a pill, --do you want some cheese with
that WHINE???
I've put out many an email about moving to other bands and have
made some excellent contacts both domestically and with some
very fine DX stations. Many of the operators I've talked with
commented that they moved to that band as a result of getting
my e-mail, just so thay can put another state/country in their log
on other than 20m! WHATS WRONG WITH THAT????
NOTHING!!!!! (Take your 2nd pill at this time.....)
Now if this method goes against the purpose of the PSK31
reflector (which is --let me guess-- to promote and propagate
knowledge and understanding of the PSK operating mode to
the amateur fraternity), then the reflector has outlived its
usefulness. HIT THE SWITCH, PULL THE PLUG, LAST ONE OUT
TURN OFF THE LIGHTS.
Now if you "whiners", "kilocycle cops" and "appliance operators"
out there want just to operate a single band/single mode "box",
without having to THINK, ------> GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
And as an added bonus I'll be glad to give you 10 cents on the
dollar for your radios and I'll throw in an 11 meter rig with one
knob and a 39 page opr manual to learn to use it....... maybe.
I certainly enjoy all aspects of this mode, both technical and social.
I have thoroughly enjoyed EVERY QSO I've had on PSK.
If I have offended anyone who did NOT deserve it, my SINCERE
APOLOGY.
If I have offended anyone who DID deserve it, take your 3rd pill here.
Enough said on my part. I hope my somewhat rude and irate remarks
are taken as constructive criticizm. I just got my fireproof tuxedo back
from the cleaners and the fire extinguishers are primed and ready.
SO all the "whiners", "kilocycle cops" and "appliance operators" can
direct their hissey fits at me.
NOW LETS GET BACK TO TALKING ABOUT PSK31.
I think I'll now go and have some FUN playing radio... CQ CQ Who
wants to join me up on 7080 or 10137.15? See ya there. ;-)

I realize that I'm a newcomer to this system, but it seems to me you
have a "I'll take my marbles and go home" situation. Don't know what
caused it but it sounds like "good riddance".
Now to the meat of this connection, I've been told that what I'm asking
is in the "Archives". Will someone please tell me how to access them? If
I'm to look, guess I'll need to know where to go. (that could be a
leading statement?)

Gordon,
You arrived at a time when this reflector is experiencing a normal
transition experienced my all groups. Having existed with a common purpose
for some time the membership is now disagreeing about the appropriate use of
the reflector. Some want it only for technical aspects of PSK31 operations,
some have other needs in mind. As in all group dynamics, from this
"tension" will come growth. Some will leave, some will stay, some will form
sub-groups. While some will have hurt feelings, the end result will
eventually be positive.

Subject: [psk31] CCC PSK Contest Results
The Sept 4th CCCC PSK CONTEST results have now finished the second level of
review. A list of all entries received and scores is available at
http://www.netsync.net/users/obrienaj/scores.htm . About 5-6 entries are
not listed because I need to get my version of Excel to behave so I can read
the files that arrived in Excel format.
The next level of review will be to conduct additional verification of
certain QSO's and compare with some check logs. This should take about
one more week.. Upon completion of this third stage, a new web page
(easier to read) will be established and the final results listed.
Certificates will be mailed out around Dec 7 1999. Those that sent stamped
addressed envelopes or green stamps requesting the results via regular mail
will receive the full results on paper.
The completed second review is open to your scrutiny, if you spot any typos,
inaccurate listings, please email me. Scores after the third review will be
considered final !

I was looking for the same kind of information to get the PSK setup going.
Turned out to be a simple matter of turning on the Recording volume
controls. Many thanks to Ted, VK2WL, and Bill, W4PCT, for setting me on
the righteous path.
I'm not sure why you'd want to save sound files as ASCII; they'd be HUGE.
I'm sure there's lots of material on how to save data as *.wav files,
though. Maybe that's what you're looking for.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I had tried most of them, but Ted, VK2WL,
and Bill, W4PCT, both replied directly with the solution: The RECORDING
volume controls needed to be set up! In my case, just opening the Recording
control panel screen was enough to get things going.
Thanks for the advice. Y'all are most helpful.
