Hello Peter,
I have been using the DX70TH for a couple of months now on RTTY, PSK & SSTV
and have had no trouble at all...Just connect the line out of the sound card
through a 1:1 transformer to the Mic I/P and the ext. speaker O/P from the
Alinco through a step up transformer to the sound card line in. The ext.
audio function from the front connector is too low without extra
amplification. You will have to connect an external speaker in the line also
as the internal speaker cuts out when the plug is inserted. I am also using
an external VOX unit because, as you know, the Alinco has no built in VOX
facility.

Hi everyone!

Many thanks to all who've responded so far. To those of you who haven't,
please take a little time to send me a list of the stations you've worked,
along with Name, QTH, E-mail address, QSL route and Operating habits,
wherever possible.

So far I have around 700 different stations listed, but a lot of them have
very little information associated with them. I'll attempt to get a draft
copy posted on the reflectors by Friday next week, and then hopefully some of
you will be able to fill in the blanks.

Hi everyone!

Just a few pieces of information for you. This morning I logged HB0/OK2WO on
14.069.7MHz at 0558z. He had an excellent 599 signal. I think you all know
how long they're QRV for.

TK/F6FGY was also QRV at 0130z on 14.069MHz. He too was 599 and was working
a string of Ws when I listened (W8CNL, K9EUI, W9INA, and KN6TC being the
lucky ones.)

My friend Maury (I121171) tells me that he logged a station from HR at 0200z
on the 18/6/99.

There are more stations becoming QRV!

73 es gud DX!

Hello all,

I heard that there was an problem in reading my former Email so I sent =
the RE: Bandwidth and AGC with IC706 MKII again:

To use the narrow filters ( like 500 and 250 hz ) in the SSB mode, you =
have to "fool" the startup-menu of the Ic-706-mk2.
I have put in an 500 and 250 hz filter, and on SSB I can choose the =
normal (wide) SSB filter no other indication, with indication W the 500 =
hz filter and with indication N the 250 hz filter.

Just push the Lock and Power together when the set is off, and there the =
setupmenu comes.
Choose for menu item 19: OPT fil 1: FL-103 ( I think this is my 500 hz =
filter)
and for menu 20: OPT fil 2: FL-223. ( the 250 hz filter).

When the indication W and N, are wrong (in SSB !), change then the menu =
item 19 and 20.
=20
In LSB you have with Shift Control at about 1 o'clock 800 hz and on 2 =
o'clock the 1000 hz passband for RX.
For PSK31 and Coherent bpsk the 1 'clock is suited with the N (250 hz =
filter). The 2 o'clock is suited for doing Feldhell with the fb program =
of IZ8BLY Nino.
=20
In USB this is at 1 o'clock abt 2200 hz, which I use with the W (500 hz) =
filter for Pactor-2.
=20
For transmission the normal wide ssb filter is always used.

It just could be that the indications on the screen in CW/RTTY are not =
correct anymore, when using the N and W filters.

Hope you can use the Psk31 mode an bit easier now, with other strong =
signals present.

Your comment:

WinZIP (from Nico Mak Computing) is not free software. From their
license agreement:

"This is not free software. Subject to the terms below, you are
hereby licensed to use this software for evaluation purposes without
charge for a period of 21 days. If you use this software after the 21
day evaluation period a registration fee of $29 is required."

I think there may be a free unZIP utility.

Al,

I don't know if you intended to or not, but you fixed the network FCC
database bug. I now can create the index over the network (that worked
before, of course), and when I change the path of the data file using "More"
and "Lookup Data" to the network path....it works!

Did you fix it on purpose? I did exactly the same thing I had done before,
including using copy and paste to do the path so I couldn't mis-type it and
it worked first try. I even created the index over the network.

Now I can use the FCC file appl.dat which is located on Schiers1 in the
d:\winaprs\data subdirectory for Front End which is located in Schiers2 in
the e:\Front End directory.

As you specified, the index file for the FCC database ofFront End running on
Schiers2 must reside on Schiers1 and then Front End must use the network
path to appl.zip and the index, of course. Works perfectly.

WinAPRS, of course has its own index and so there are two indices in the
WinAPRS\data subdirectory, one created by WinAPRS, and the other created by
GNR.
Pretty darn slick, Al.

Now the questions remain: Did you fix it? Did I fix it? Did it fix itself?

A BIG thanks.

Is anybody else on the list receiving corrupted messages from

Nope. I haven't touched the FCC stuff in a while. My testing shows it works
fine over my network.... and has.

Not sure what that means.

I just found out that I have been deleting Karl - RS174461 because I
thought it was spam...this because it's a technique of spammers to use a
server without traceability. Well Karl (call unknown), I'm sorry I've been
missing your posts.

Has AOL come up with some laimbrain scheme for user names now, Karl?

Oh yeah, why can't I see the "Subject" and see it's PSK? Because something
has gone amiss with my Eudora inbox display and all I can see is the
"status", "attachment" and the "who" without scrolling far far to the
right. Anybody know how to fix that?

Dave ZL2AMD has been kind enough to fix YPTT for operation with the Y847
which has a slightly different protocol than the other radios. You can find
the new YPTT_847 files on the download page
(http://wd5gnr.virtualave.net/pskgnrv.htm)

Thanks Dave! By the way, this is the first add in for PSKGNR that I didn't
write. If you have some piece of keying hardware (e.g., a TNC or what not)
that you want to interface, ask me and I'll be glad to send you the code.

Been out of town and getting ready to go again, so I'm behind on my mail. If
I haven't answered you yet... soon, I promise.
