It is a pitty since both agw and bpq are nothing more than crap
compared to flexnet.
If you are using soundcards, uscc cards or other modems where the
performance of the packet driver is very important not to get problems
with rx etc is it nothing but stupid to use anything else than flexnet.

I think you can find a description on flexnets homepage, I don't know if
you need more thatn that.
Others have managed to write programs supporting flexnet,
like the excelent nbf terminal.
And I have managed to write programs for dos that uses flexnet.

No

Why should somebody bother to write Packet software for the
soundcard, when good TNC's are available.
What a waste of time.

I use a 1200 baud Baycomm, good enough for me,
although 9600 would be nice.

Subject: What "works" on Flexnet with soundcard packet????

That's an excellent question. One which I have somewhat
answered. One which I think we seek to discover here in this
group.

The point is, If someone knew and told me what the pros and cons
are, what works, and what apps are available for said soundcard
software. Then it wouldn't have to take so much time. Maybe we
will and maybe we will not discover a faster way. What's wrong
with tring and attempting to pass on some help?

Most importantly, once a clear benifit (even fun) is
established. *Soundcard* packet desperately needs user friendly
instructions and how to's. All the files from drivers to apps
need to be grouped for easy download. An install program would
be nice. Don't forget it's shareware.

Further, wouldn't it be nice if all this were available and we
didn't have to seek out a TNC and plus pay tax and/or shipping.
there are said to be technical advatages to soundcard for
packet. Why can't we use what we already have (or could get
cheap). Hey, I've said over and over; to each his own. What ever
floats you boat or blows your skirt up. I even said hardware is
more stable by probability. It may well be that hardware is
better.

Hey, one day we will be able to go grab a download, click it,
connect a radio and packet to our hearts content.

I'd really like to get to a point where I can explore packet and
what I like about it WITHOUT investing money first. I already
got feed up with AGWPE 2000.50 and deleted it. Now I've tried
the new version (He REALLY needs to say what he's fixed/added).
I also bit the custom set up bullet on FlexNet.

Hey! If any one needs Winpack (Term/BBS)to work via soundcard
(In Win98SE even) , I've now been there done that (bought the T-
shirt) with Flex. I'd be glad to help you. It works and it seems
to be reliable (long term tests whitstanding). Remember, I'm on
a notebook and a Vx-1r HT. Preaty neat.

I'm now looking toward APRS and TCP/IP.
