Alternatively, you can perform a hard reset by placing one of the internal
jumpers on the test post and then applying power. Wait for 20 seconds or
so. Then power it down and put the jumper back onto the normal post. It is
explained in all the manuals (even your old version 5 manual).

But if you do a hard reset, you will lose all your settings. You will have
to reprogram your KPC-3.

Yeah the soundcard drivers are the main problem with the flexnet setting up
i think.
I have the same problems with AGWPE since 2000.50 this worked but any later
version just crashes all the time, ive tried all windows updates, no luck
there :(

I am getting a Yam modem soon and i was wondering whether it is possible to
run ui-view with this using something other than AGW, Possibly BPQ but i
havent read up how it is setup yet !!. Any help would be handy :))

No, BPQ doesn't have a YAM driver, but I've been told that the YAM
driver in the latest AGWPE works fine. (Don't judge AGWPE by the fact
that its sound card driver is problematic on some systems.)

I once started writing a YAM driver for BPQ, but gave up because I
wasn't very impressed by the YAM. The biggest problem is that it draws
more current than a significant proportion of COM ports can supply via
their handshaking lines. If you add an external power supply, unless you
are very careful how you do it, you can create problems with the
initialisation sequence.

OK, I got both flex and AGW running. So far AGW bombs and Flex
doesn't. I even have Flexnet working in Win98SE. I will post my
config.sys to greatly help out those who may wish to adapt it.
That should shave some of the time off it. Thanks for the tip
that Flex works with 98 via 95 drivers (we think).

Point well taken, these program are different without soundcard
packet. I just think Soundcard packet (and 386/486 or better) is
cool. Cheap if you already have one and an excellent way to try
new stuff.

So, I have Winpack working reliably with FLex but not APRS with
anything (souncard) yet.

Check this Config.sys out!
