OK Flexnet people, do you have Flexnet on a Winblows 98
notebook? What bugs or troubles does it have if any? Do you have
to boot to DOS everytime to use packet?

Do you also have TCP/IP working?

Here's my rough goal today. Get soundcard packet reliably
working for 1200b. Move up to 9600b. Install the TCP/IP gateway
type stuff. Utilize the plethora of programs already availible.
For example, email, FTP, Newsgroup readers, telnet etc.

Is any one really doing this with any reliabilty? Should I
forget soundcard packet and go for a baypac or something?

As someone developing software for ham radio use, I find one BIG problem
with Flexnet -

If you get a copy of BPQ, it includes all the information needed to
develop applications to use its host mode.

If you get a copy of AGWPE, it includes all the information needed to
develop applications to use its host mode.

So UI-View(32) supports both BPQ(32) and AGWPE.

If you get a copy of Flexnet, it doesn't include any information for
developing applications to use its host mode. If you try to ask the
Flexnet team, they don't reply. Well, in the many attempts I have made
to ask for the API information, I have never received a reply. I've sent
messages to email addresses, and the messages haven't bounced, so
presumably someone has received them. One person suggested that I should
send a message via packet, so I tried that as well, and still didn't
receive a reply (although the chance of it ever having reached its
destination is not all that great).

The only way you can support Flexnet without the 32 bit API docs is to
use TFEMU, which is a DOS driver, and not really the best way to access
a 32 bit host system from a 32 bit app!

I'm sure the Flexnet team must have a good reason for this apparent
extreme reluctance to make the API information available, but I'd love
to know what it is. I've got users asking me why UI-View doesn't support
Flexnet, and they just don't believe me when I tell them!
