Subject: Kantronics KPC3 help

Hi,

If you want to connect a GPS receiver directly to your KPC-3 for APRS, you
will need a firmware upgrade from kantronics -- see www.kantronics.com

(HAMs do this when running mobile and do not want to use a laptop).

But if you want to use your KPC-3 with UI-VIEW or WinAPRS software, you don
not need a software upgrade.

You can only connect a GPS receiver or a computer to a KPC-3 but NOT both.
But if you connect a computer to the KPC-3, you can typically also connect a
GPS receiver to another port on the computer depending on what software you
are running on the PC.

Subject: New Soundcard Packet & APRS good map

OK, I'll will try to pass on a few tips reguardless of those who
didn't like some of my comments. I calls'em like I sees'em. Why
should we let them spoil it for us. Beware, this stuff takes
time which only you can decide is worth it. I have below saved
you alot of that time. I wish someone had posted this for me.

On to the lastest test!

I downloaded the new AGW Packet Engine Version 2000.60. (Jun
2000)

http://www.elcom.gr/sv2agw/

Requirements: Pentium (486 minimum) for soundcard packet.
Anything less and you'd be better served building/buying
a "baycom" type circuit for your DOS computer.

I also searched and downloaded UI-View (worked) and WinAPRS (did
not work). These are supossed to work with the AGW Packet Engine
