I have a Meastro-2 soundcard 32bit. And a Capital Oslo CB 4Watt
40 Channels. Could somebody send me how I could build a packet-
modem for the soundcard. And software of course.
My adress is: dave_l@hetnet.nl / powerdave@hetnet.nl
Please send me or leave it in the newsgroup.
Thanks,
Dave.

This is a Ham Radio newsgroup, Bozo. Check out the CB newsgroups for info on
running CB systems.
SPAM off.

Meanwhile, the question is still valid...is it possible to do packet with a
sound card, using the line-in and line-out jacks with the headphone and
microphone jacks on my 2-meter?
Interested...<<-BCNU->>

Don't pay much attention to Chuck, he's apparently
an idiot. (Defined here as someone without enough
common sense to be civil.) Legendary, as I
understand it.
Anyway, even if it were legal it probably wouldn't
work well for CB, as it's AM and noisy. Best bet
is to get your ham ticket and use 2 meters. Most
hams are decent people and would be willing to
help. The test isn't too bad at all. Good luck.

Unlike this amateur operator; the HAM community for the most part is a good
group of people who would love to have another operator join the ranks. I
tried
(unsuccessfully) to set up a similar Packet radio system with some friends on
CB
to allow them to get (it sounds really stupid now) 1200 baud PPP internet
through my Linux server. (I guess its just the novelity of Wireless
Internet).
Anyway, CB is just too noisy to successfully send packet across, not to
mention
all the people who complained about having channel 32 tied up with my CB
antenna
on top of a 40 foot tower :) Best bet, try to get an amateur license and a 2
meter rig. It will pay off the first time you're lost somewhere and can get
directions from someone (happened more than once on my trip to Chicago).
Lots of Luck
