phone call to the FCC. Presto-chango! One less gateway in your area! (Yours)
Like it or not, the PART97 regs apply to gateways just as much as they apply
to any other Amateur Radio station. - And the days of the FCC "looking the
other way" are over.
Be sure your station does not transmit ANY E-mail without it being checked
by you, and you'll probably be OK. Try to run it on an automatic, uncensored
basis, and it will automatically put your operating privileges in danger, on
a daily basis.
That's why no-one was interested in handling E-mail. You should reconsider
doing so yourself.
Is it REALLY worth losing your ticket? Do you REALLY trust every Ham in your
area that much, and every non-Ham they will be using your system to
communicate with?

Subject: Timewave DSP-232 Questions
I bought a Timewave DSP-232 at the end of 1998 and due to
a variety of issues have yet to fire it up. There were a number of
limitations to the advertised features at the time and fixes were
promised ... and mods and workarounds were expected to arise
from within the Ham community.
The unit has now been discontinued (it was actually a
dysfunctional piece of the inventory Timewave got from AEA --
and this stuff almost bankrupted Timewave since it wasn't ready
for market as they had expected).
Timewave's representation of the DSP-232 is found at this
url under "Discontinued Products":
http://www.timewave.com/amprods.html
I don't blame them for bailing on this device, it was a
real black hole of technical time for them ...
Is anyone aware of non-Timewave supported mods and
workarounds for the fullest possible functionality? Is anyone
aware of non-advertised upgrades?
I have also written Timewave but those in the Ham community
who are actually using a device are often the best informed!
Thanks! & 73,
~~~
If you searched on WinPacket you got the name wrong - it's WinPack - so
that's probably why you didn't find anything useful. Start at my site
(see my sig) and there are links from there to sites where you can
download it.
