You certainly can, Tony. Roger Barker, G4IDE, has written the excellent
programme Winpack, now in version 6.4, which will, with either Netscape,
Internet Explorer,or its own internal WinpScape allow you to look at HTML.

You can find it at http://www.peaksys.demon.co.uk and although Roger likes
you to pay for it (I have as it is only 10 pounds Sterling) it remains fully
functional even if you don't.

Basically any soundblaster compatible card that works in win95 will be ok
although obviously a more "nicer" one is better but a standard sb16 value is
all i use for 1200 packet tx/rx and it works well

Subject: Newbie to packet radio with beginner question

Hello there,

I am a newbie to packet and to HAM also and I have the exact same problem. I
bought a used MFJ 1276 (same as 1270C but mine support HP as well) TNC-2 from
internet. The previous owner said the unit is working when he had it hooked
up to a Radio Shack HTX-212.

After I received the TNC, I bought a cable MFJ5024 from HRO and hook up the
TNC to my W32A handheld. The communication between my PC and TNC is no
problem. But when I tried to connect to a station, I see the PTT LED in the
front goes on and off but nothing happens at the radio. I hope the cable is
not the problem since it is a brand cable from MFJ for my radio.

Would any expert out there help ??

Thanks in advance.

That's the problem, of course. Besides the juno.com and hotmail.com ads
which are appended on many E-mails, you run across the basic problem of
communicating with non-hams, allowing whatever they may care to say to be
transmitted with YOUR callsign as the first transmitting station on the Ham
bands.

Since these non-Hams have absolutely no repercussions to face, no matter
what they might happen to say, you put yourself into a very precarious
position by entrusting your operating privileges to them in this way.

If you manage to upset someone, for example, they only have to send a nasty
E-mail so that it will end up going through your system, stand by with the
disk capture running on their terminal program, then make a short toll-free
