I have also seen the long distance, ie 22 hour flights booking, difficulties.
On one occassion coming back from London on QF2 I had a confirmed booking, but
a women sitting next to me had been stuck in London for six weeks trying to
get home.
I expressed surprise and she informed me as it was October-November it was
getting cold and Australians were all trying to get home before it got worse !
I notice that today QANTAS has announced a fare increase of 3% because of fuel
costs and also that they expect a 40% increase in profit this year.
They also announced that they had forward purchased their fuel for next year
at $60 a barrel. Can't imagine how they manage that.
