That regulation must be a local one in the eastern states as it does not
apply here. The only regulation regarding size of which I am aware is that
vans over a certain size must have electric brakes fitted. I towed an 18
foot van all over NSW and Victoria and the north of this state with a 4
litre Ford Falcon, but before that I towed a smaller van with a 2 litre
Toyota Corona. No problems.
