Hi Ian and all,

It's been a while since CARS so why did you wait so long? (rhetorical sarcsm)
Anyway I changed the subject field just a bit having been confused when I
read the bulls list, I wondered what SS had to do with cars.

Seems to me the SS was the abbreviation of Super Sport same as it was here in
the days of muscle cars, usually they had a second, small badge indicating
the CID of the engine.

This is the first I've heard of any connection between Jaguar and Daimler, as
you said it's usually Daimler Benz and here they're trucks while Mercedes
Benz they're cars. Of course you know Otto named the line after his wife.
That makes me wonder if the odd gear shift arrangement, could have been a
secretly German design. Never heard of that one either but I do remember the
manual fluid clutch, another unusual design since that's part of the
automatic transmission called a torque converter. Nah, a confused driving
test inspector didn't contribute to the first time fail, they don't care as
long as you make the car go. I took my test in a car with a crapped out
synchro for 2nd gear so I skipped it. The inspector asked why so a picture
being worth a thousand words I ground it and said "That's why." Oh, carry on.
