Hi Ian and all,

Ah, here's just what you need: http://www.quadlock.com/about/unit_converter.htm
I find it extremely useful and I'm sure you will too.

If it's a Cobra it sounds like a Shelby racing engine, the biggest I ever
saw on the street was the Chevy 427cid and I doubt any are produced
today. I used to have a 350cid Impala but that's a family car even if it
has the same as a stock Corvette which BTW had the 427 option. BTW, not
long ago there was the Dodge Viper the fastest thing on wheels but not
being a motor head I don't keep my ear to the ground anywhere near the
track. Just as well, what they run in the quarter mile literally shake
the ground.

Oh yeah, Top Gear. Not my cup of tea but I've caught a peek here and
there and frankly the presenter is the north end of a southbound horse.
BBCA has much better to offer like Doctor Who. If your Escalade is
anything like ours no wonder you have only one in your area like around
here too, only one king per city-state. They're popular with police
departments that can afford them to use as bait cars, GPS tracking, on
board video and remote control engine cutoff and door locks make perfect
traps for hoods too dumb to notice the red flag. If it has the keys in
the ignition with the motor running something's up and when the car stops
and the lock solenoids click it's their hands... heh heh heh. That TV
show Bait Car would be boring if the cops just cuffed them and tossed
them in the caged back seat of the patrol car but one leading question
opens the flood gate for the most hysterical excuses you'll ever hear.

Actually American cars CAN go around tight corners because every corner
is tight if you obey the law. Basically you have to stay in lane so
ordinary intersections are essentially right angle turns, I never had a
car that couldn't negotiate a proper turn. You'd never know by the way
they drive around here, almost always they cut corners in a wide arc and
only make a proper turn to avoid a head on at the stop sign they
consistently roll through. Living in a corner house with Porch TV has its
advantages, never a dull moment and the boob tube is Imax without ever
going to the cinema.

Never mind cruise control, I drove a passenger van with it so I can say
it's completely useless and annoying too in any kind of traffic. One tap
of the accelerator or brake and off it goes, then you have to manually
come up to speed and reset it. "Fuel economy" makes me laugh when a
steady foot on the accelerator accomplishes the same thing without the
added expense of useless bells and whistles. Now there's collision
avoidance radar among other things for drivers with more money than
brains, I shudder to think of what nonsense they'll come up with next.

"...it is far more fun to sail around in the sky with no engine."
Bats have been doing that for eons...
