Hi Tony and all,
Yeah, a memorable story is hard to forget? Takes me back to history
class, good when it comes to battles but I stink when it comes to names
and dates. Good thing I'm an impressive storyteller or that's another
course I would habve failed.
Your story of the fuel dealer and bio-Diesel went exactly as expected,
not only will the government win in the end but tiey'll collect back
taxes one way or another. Thing is, it looks like your tax men aren't as
flexible as ours and lack common sense. All well and good collecting back
taxes but if yopu don't cut a deal and put somebody out of business
where's the future revenue going to come from?
Sort of reminds me of a dealer a couple of decades ago selling #2 heating
oil as Diesel, worked for a time but he got caught when cold weather came
and his "Diesel" gave poor performance. (It's #2 oil with Cetane and
other additives.) Add tax evasion and back taxes to laws governing motor
fuels and he got just what he deserved, the slammer and selling the
business to cover fines.
