I would have put it at more than that. However much fuss is made about
computer driven cars the fact remains that people are still driving around
in vehicles using 19th century technology.
The only real change to an engine was the Wankel, more than 40 years old
now. In a recent TV programme, the presenters were looking at a row of top
of the range cars and said "XXX has the usual Wankel engine", no sign of
excitement about any advantages/disadvantages of the Wankel.
I am no petrol head so changed channel meanwhile thinking that the oldest
presenter was just getting born when the Wankel came into being.
Does anyone know if and when they solved the problems ?
This is germane to the topic as one of the advantages of the Wankel was
that it was more efficient than a piston engine - I wonder why it is not
more commonly used.
