Hi All

As requested here my feedback

At GB7CIP/MB7NCRAs 'we' prefer hardware modems for reliabily and
high uptimes running under native Linux.


Originally since the late 1990's we had 11 tiny2's all running 
over two sites linked at 19200bd RF. Using the TheNet X1J4
 software via diode matrix.s in selective kiss-mode running AX25,
 IP over Ax25 and NetRom. 
Not forgetting our third site 60 mile 70cm 9600bd Radio link that
had three BSX2 TheNetX1J4 installed running NetRom AX25 and IP over
AX25.

Providing RF links at 1200, 9600 and 19200bd with additional
modem add on modules. 6 of these were connected to CB7CIP Linux 
Interface since 1994.

Since the late 1990's all the Tiny'2 run with the dedicated kiss 
proms.  Parameters set, updated by scripts, driven by the GB7CIP 
Linux server 8 serial ports for the 1200 and 9600db RF Interfaces. 
Linfbb also uses these 1200 and 9600bd radio Interfaces for 
forwarding and user access.

Linfbb also controls two TS-480SAT HF Radios via SCS PRIii pro data 
controller(s) and controlling the HF beam direction and selecting 
aerials for for the HF PACTOR and HF Packet(if required)

One can pick up these tiny2 tnc's very cheaply now at Radio Amateur
Rallies if you are lucky.

Very few Packet/Pactor users that use RADIO around these days, I am 
afraid to report.
I have seen 7 different RF users so far this year accessing one of 
the 1200 or 9600 RF Interfaces.

Note: Kenwood TS2000e and THD7** series of radios have built in 
TASCO Packet Modems that CAN BE configured for AX25 and running 
IP over AX25 to access GB7CIP Radio Interfaces here at 1200 or 
9600db(70cms).

Acknowledging the TASCO Radio Modem limitations, which one get 
get around. 
'We' have PaKet62 and DOS JNOS 11Ee running with these Kenwood 
radio modems. running under WinXP Win7pro  Win8.1 and Win10

Which I had been ask to try as 'yet another challange'
Have been using Paccom TNC's since 1984.
