Hello dear Dick and Warren and all interested reader
because of the attention I found with my "Chicken Ladder" I like to introduce
the Z-Match, as far as it is not known to every one.
First a word to the "Chicken Ladder": Off course it is a slang word which
even found entrance into printed publication in DL..
In France they have a similar word: Frog Ladder (Echelle a grenuille),
in relation to the "wheather frog".
Z-MATCH: You need apprx 2 Meter of Tansformer Wire (or similar),
a variable capasistor with the
capasistance of 250 pF or more. This one should be a
little bit high tension proof..
and
a double variable capasistor of 500 pF, such a typ you found earlier on
in the old tube radios,
and, if you want do design it with ferrites (advisable) a t 200 or less and
a body. This cage can be plastic made if you use ferrites.
Off course apprx 2 Meter of wire and that is all!
My smaller box (I have build two) was integrted into an old switch box like
you use it to switch (e.g.) two different printer to the computer.
As written you can build it with ferrites but even with an single air coil.
I start with the ferrit, not important wheather you use a t 98 or a t 200.
You wind all at all 27 Windings over the ring (plus 5 - 7 Windings on the
cold side for the antenna outlet, symmetric).
On the begin of the turns one half of the double capasistor is connected
Turn 11 is connected to the singel 250 pF connector, which leads into the
radio outlet
Turn 16 is connected to the second half of the variable capasistor which
with its body is connected to the ground of the inlet of the box (connected
to the coax from the radio)
That is all. I "donated" a switch because of my two "chicken ladder"
The tuning is very sharp. You nearly can tune the radio by the noise.
The variation of impedances is very large. Me, just because I am a curious man
tested it down to 10 Ohm and went up into the kOhm range. So you even can
use it fantastic for Coax as well!

The details of an air coil as follows:
Diameter 60 mm
Windings at all: 14 turns
1/2 of 2x500 to: Begin
1/2 of 2x500 to: 7 turns from the end of coil (ground)
250pF single to: 10turns from the end of coil

Now few personal words: Dear Warren, you would not believe how difficult it is
to write a technical precise! article in a foreign language. To have a
qso is one thing, to explain it in a way that no doubt is left behind another
one! Particular, if you are an autodidact like me and from an entire other
profession as the subject requires you are writing about.
Concerning the english language: One unique language for the world??
No, English at all is the unique language concerning some fields like
air control (Did you ever hear an arabic aircontroller speaking english??
But even in other areas of our colourful globe, hi) it is the language of
computer technic etc etc.
NO DOUBT: If I like to inform the world via PR, I have to use English, as good
as I can!
Not too long ago I red an interesting coverage about the USA and the percen-
tage of those locals who do not speak english.
You may not like it, but the language of Diplomacy e.g. is FRENCH because
concerning treaties it is more prescisely..
In my eyes (here in DL in Basic every pupil NOW ((not in my time after WW II)
has to learn English, how good, that is another question.
But let us have a look to the world map:
In Africa English covers only 25 Percent, most spoken language is French.
In addition to that Portugise as well..
On the "fore yard" of USA, so what are the languages? Spanish and Portugise.
For a man with Germanistic back ground it is not too difficult to learn the
basics of English if you are interested (If not, you learn nothing in this
life), but I may "brake a lance" as we say in DL to the people with the
romanic and slawic background, where it is a very strange thing.
(I know what I say, I even learned French!)
So pse Gentlemen, give respect to those who try to talk to other in a foreign
language. Hard job, I tell you.
OK, dear Dick, I was surprised that I made you "lost". Off course I had
no intention to touch your feelings. To me it is the normal, I have spend all m my professional life (45 years) in the boots, here in DL but even long times
in Africa..
But that is another story...
