Hello all,

True, if you use ladder line you have eliminated the 15M tuning stub and 
no longer have the anteena that G5RV did not invent but merely tagged his 
callsign on. If you have any doubts refer to some antenna publications 
from the 1950s and earlier, long before the bloke started marketing his 
prefab antennas.

As for resonance, just what IS resonance? That is such an arbitary term 
applied to multiband antennas. Technically speaking the G5RV is a 
harmonically resonant antenna on all bands except the fundimental and 15M 
where it is entirely non resonant so it needs the matching section to 
make it so, or so it appears. Still the radiator is non resonant on that 
band as it is not harmonically related.

Best? What is "best"? That of course is a subjective opinion rather than 
an objective one.

Now if you want simple and leave "best" up to the "experts" to bandy 
about, cut a dipole for the lowest frequency in use and connect it to a 
balanced output tuner with open wire feeder. As for "ladder line", that 
too is subjective since most seem to call any paralell balanced feeder 
"ladder line".

Oh BTW, the impedance of open wire paralell balanced feed line varies 
with conductor diameter and spacing, so let's get another argument going 
over that one. (;->)
