Yes I agree. The original G5RV was never intended to work all bands. It
was designed as a 3/4 wave antenna to work on 20 meters. Which it does a
fine job at.
These later 'modifications' are not a G5RV.
Put up a full sized horizontal at the lowest frequency band you want to use.
Feed it with ladder line to a balanced tuner or even a newer type with a
toroid coil in it. You may have to fiddle with the line length on some
bands to make the 'system' play everywhere. Experiment and enjoy.
