typed by Michael ZL1ABS

Ingredients

4 ounces (100 grams) Butter
3 ounces (75 grams) Brown Sugar
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon spice
1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
1 Egg
8 ounces (225 grams) Plain Flour or 4 ounces (100 grams) Plain Flour and 4
ounces (100 grams) Ground Rice
1 scant teaspoon Baking Powder

Instructions

Cream butter, sugar and spices together. Add egg and beat. Mix in dry
ingredients. Knead on a floured board. Roll out thin, cut into rounds.
Bake on cold greased trays 15 to 20 minutes at 350 Fahrenheit (175 degrees
Celsius). Put together with raspberry jam and ice the top of each biscuit,
decorate with a piece of angelica or cherry."

From my mother's old New Zealand cookery book (1956 edition), printed by a
maker of baking powder, custard powder, cornflour and jelly crystals.
