Amsat - Arklow School selected.
In October last the IRTS news carried an item from Amsat
inviting teachers to submit students' science work to be
considered for carrying on board the next satellite to be
launched later this year.
P draig EI7GK, a science teacher in Gaelchol iste na
Mara, Arklow, submitted work from 6 of his students. All
have been selected and their work will "fly" on board the
satellite.
Gaelchol iste na Mara is the only school in EI to be
selected. Other schools selected are in the U.S.
Canada, UK etc.In Gaelchol iste na Mara all subjects
including Science are thought through Irish so an English
translation had to accompany the original work.

IARU Region 1 EC Meeting 2010
Due to volcanic ash that was covering many parts of
Europe, the International Amateur Radio Union Region 1
Executive Committee held its annual meeting via a web
conference.
On World Amateur Radio 2010, the IARU Region 1 EC held
its annual meeting, only five EC members made it to
Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
The rest of the EC had either to return home or to stay
at their home QTH and participated in the EC meeting
through WebEx (a remote meeting application).

Radio Kuwait cleared from amateur radio band
Radio Kuwait was broadcasting in the Amateur Radio 7 MHz
allocation, however speedy action by the IARU Monitoring
System Intruder Watch resolved the problem.
A 'combined action' led to the removal of Radio Kuwait on
7150 and 7190 kHz. From 12 to 19 April 2010 the
broadcaster had been transmitting programs in Arabic
language with up to S9+30dB signals blocking almost 20
kHz of the 40m Band.
