IRTS Annual Dinner AV Presentations
One of the audio visual presentations being prepared for
the Annual Dinner in Dundalk will feature the Islands on
the Air Contest.
Individuals or Groups who have still photos or video of
last year's contest, or indeed any amateur radio related
activity, and who would like them to be considered for
inclusion should forward them to Seamus EI8BP. In
particular, Seamus is anxious to feature all the Island
expeditions.

IRTS 78th AGM
The 78th AGM of Irish Radio Transmitters Society will be
hosted by the Dundalk Amateur Radio Society, over the
weekend of the 24 /25th April 2010.The venue will be
Fairways Hotel Dundalk Co Louth.
Tickets for the Dinner on Saturday night at 8.30PM are
selling well at 35 Euro each and are available from Peter

IRTS 2m Counties Contest
The next IRTS Contest will be held on Easter Monday from
14:00 to 16:00 local time. Rules and information are
available on the IRTS website.

EI4HF in Haiti
Mike Lee EI4HF has been in contact with the IRTS Radio
News with an update of his Experiences in Port au Prince
Haiti, where he has spent the last two months as part of
the UN Humanitarian relief.
Mike has been putting his radio qualifications and Skills
to good use and is helping the UN to setup and establish
a vhf radio network, simplex and repeaters,
These will be used by the UN and various organizations
such as Goal and Concern. Mike has also applied for a
licence for Haiti and if successful he hopes to be on the
air.

EI / G request for volunteers for 50MHz WSPR Experiment.
Ian Hogan G6TGO, UK Six Metre Group Sponsorship Manager
and SIX NEWS columnist, would like to invite Stations to
Participate in a WSPR Experiment with a Demo Station
which will be at the Norbrek Rally Blackpool on the 11th
April.
All contributors will be credited in the Magazine SIX
NEWS.

EI2HOT/P special activation
As part of the Hot air Balloon Fiesta in Trim over Easter
Weekend the BARC (Ballooning Amateur Radio Club of
Ireland) are running a special event station during the
festival.

Limerick Radio Club
Eight members of Limerick Radio Club recently completed
works on the 2M repeater site which consisted of erecting
a tilt over mast and the erection of a new antenna &
feeder. Initial reports suggest an improvement of
coverage, reports from users and SWL's throughout the
region are welcomed, and can be sent to any member of the
club.
As the club have gone to major expense on this project
all users are reminded to contribute toward the repeater
maintenance fund to club treasurer Tony EI2AW QTHR. The
club wish to thank EI2GT, EI7ALB, EI4GXB. EI6IW, EI3JU,
EI2GGB,EI4GB and SWL Kris for their work on the day.
Limerick Radio Club will be taking part in the IRTS 2M
counties contest this bank holiday Monday. Signing
EI4LRC/P operators will be Simon EI7ALB, Gerry EI3JU,
David EI2GGB and Ger EI4GXB and look forward to a busy
period of activity.

AREN
Last Sunday the 28 March AREN members provided assistance
to the Galtee Walking Club in Tipperary for their annual
marathon. Up to 90 participants assembled for the early
morning start.
Declan EI2GE took part in the half marathon and relayed
information on participant numbers at check points,
Michael Norris SWL Son of Paul EI3ENB, also walked the
route with a portable APRS tracker, John EI2JB was
stationed in the MCP on net control and the following
members were stationed at strategic points along the
route, Eddie EI3FFB, SWL Dave Maxwell, Paul EI3ENB,
Simon EI7ALB, Gerry EI3JU and Ger EI4GXB.
Tommy EI2IT while on baby sitting duties at home provided
signal reports which resulted in EI2JB, EI7ALB and EI4GXB
extending the height of the 2M/70cm antenna at the MCP
and it is rumoured that their method is being used in the
next McGyver movie HI!
The next AREN Voice net will take place next Wednesday
Evening 7th April at 19.30 local time and all members are
requested to be QRV.

Lough Erne Rally Webcast on Sunday 11 April
Responding to requests, arrangements are in hand for a
live webcast over the internet from the Lough Erne Rally
on Sunday 11 April. Of particular interest may be the
afternoon's QRP talk on by George Dobbs G3RJV.
Also worth watching will be the happy crowd of radio
amateurs and experimenters around the stalls in the main
arena at the SHARE centre. The final arrangements on how
to access the webcast will be posted on the Club website
- www.learc.eu.
Other details of the rally are all on page 26 of April's
Echo Ireland which was circulated last week.

Dundalk Amateur Radio Society.
The next meeting of the Society is scheduled for 7th April
2010 at the Clubhouse. Meetings start at 20.30pm sharp
all are welcome to attend.
