Silent Key EI6CP
It is with regret that we inform you of the death of
Paddy Daly EI6CP. Paddy died in the Mater Hospital in
Dublin on Thursday last where he had been ill for the
past few months. Paddy was in his early nineties and has
been a long standing supporter and member of the Society.
Those who have been licensed for some time will remember
the sterling service that Paddy gave to the Society both
as a Committee menber and for many many years he carried
out the onerous task of both the incoming and outgoing
QSL Manager.
Paddy was a founder member of the Fingal Radio Club and
was instrumental in obtaining their first premises in the
scout hall on Ballygall Road Paddy was technically very
competent and was a keen home constructor and
adapter of equipment. He restored many old
communications receivers to full working order one of
which he donated to the RAF Museum.
In his working life Paddy was a member of An garda
Sioch na and on his retirement held the rank of Inspector
in the Garda Motor Workshops. Paddy was predeceased by
his wife Evelyn a few years ago At the time of writing we
do not have the funeral arrangements.
To Paddys sons Michael, Martin and Patrick and to their
families we extend our sincerest sympathy.
May he rest in peace.

Information Request Relating to the 2300-2400 MHz Band
We have been asked by ComReg to notify you that a letter
in the following terms will be issuing to all radio
amateurs shortly. This is simply a survey in the context
of the release of spectrum in this band to assist in a
spectrum monitoring exercise as a preparation for
licensing following the recent consultation on this
matter.
The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) is
preparing to open the 2300 - 2400 MHz Band for the
provision of additional licensed services on a nationwide
basis. Radio Amateur users have designated use of the
2300 - 2400 MHz band on a secondary basis and there is
currently no plan to alter this allocation. Further
information on ComReg's plans is available on our
website1.
As part of the preparation for the licensing of the 2300
- 2400 MHz band, ComReg is conducting a spectrum
monitoring campaign. In order not to inadvertently
affect the legitimate operations of Radio Amateurs,
ComReg is seeking a once-off notification of the use of
transmitter equipment in this band.
Equipment operating in any part of the band may be
notified by filling in the enclosed form and sending it
back to ComReg at Patrick Mulvey, ComReg, Abbey Court,
Irish Life Centre, Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1, or,
alternatively the form can be downloaded from the 2.3GHz
Website1
Your assistance in this matter is appreciated and if you
have any queries please do not hesitate to email me at
