Hi Pete and lurkers,

I tossed that in just to confuse those who scan the bulls and ignore us.
(;->) It's a Monty Python play running on Broadway, don't get there
anymore so if and when the movie comes out I'll wait for the DVD. Do you
think I'll hit the century mark? (doh)

Born in '49 I'm a boomer, not a war child and nobody in the family even
mentioned Spam, mostly parties on the beach at night watching the battles
offshore and the blimps out of Lakehurst. Aha, I was wondering where he
picked up "bully beef", maybe the Brits don't call it that anymore
because this is the first I've heard of it. Where Rosevelt picked it up I
don't know, he was fond of saying "bully" and the phrase "bully for you"
carried over into my youth but I don't hear it anymore.

Oh you'll get to the falls eventually, I hope they're frozen. It's
spectacular in summer but winter they're awesome and the Brazilians will
love it. You sure don't see icecicles like that in Brazil!

Now was the loco bebuilt or built in 1914? Rebuilt on that date seems a
bit odd and there is a works there but naturally I forgot the name. That
annoys me to no end, we import some of those locomotives and plenty of
rolling stock from Alstom-Bombardier, even NJT is building a fleet of
double deck coaches and bought some P42DC Genesis Locomotives from
Amtrack in a rather unusual move. I've yet to see any of the new stuff
down this far on the North Jersey Coast line, the Bayhead Shuttle seems
to be an afterthought. Anyway I've seen steamers being overhauled and
it's hard to get volunteers who know what they're doing. Of course there
are boiler makers kicking around but they like to stay retired (;->) and
there are machinists, few have any experience with locomotives but
they're willing to have a go. It's been a while since I was in the cab of
one of those beasts and I miss it, still I have memories and tons of
pictures.

-21C isn't exactly warm but as long as you don't run out of logs you'll
be OK and so will Muttso curled up by the fire. It's been hovering around
the freezing mark trying to decide rain or snow but settling on sleet and
then it melts. You can send the Brazilians here for a swim, not exactly
the beach at Rio but just a bit less crowded.

Word has it things are about to liven up again around here, wait for it.
