Hello back Warren and lurkers .... And I really don't care
if they...whoever they are...ignore us. Who cares.

As for the plays and Broadway, well we have the seasonal
Red barn Theatre < actual barn > in the summer, and that
keeps me going, as well the local show and cheap seats
Tuesday nights...and if I miss it...then a trip to the
video store.... no problemo...

I am nearly the same as you, in age...born 1948 ...in UK
Yep ...me too..a "boomer" and after 2weeks my mum went to
Scotland, and then in 1953 we went to Canada, where we've
lived ever since.

I do remember SPAM and canned this and that in Scotland,
and some hard post-war times. No beach parties, but
we have some pictures of trips to Blackpool beach taken
pre 1953 ...as well other pictures of UK pre 1953 I guess
I should be sharing via a website or something...also
my father's war pictures, before WW2 started, as he was
stationed in France.

What battles? I know lakehurst for the navy patrols,
and perhaps these might have been used for the cold war
patrols too.

I have no idea where this "Bully Beef" thing came from, all
I know is that it is Corned Beef, and he expected the can.

I don't know what they call it nowadays...I'll leave that
for someone like David or anyone to say...

It was a Presidential catch-phrase....all Presidents have
this or that accredited to them. Where Teddy got it from
is for some Teddy Roosevelt history buffs to let us know.

I can never remember a Cannuck ever saying Bully for you.
Perhaps it didn't make it this far north...eh?

Yesterday, after checking road conditions and seeing snow
covered roads, as they were at 0400hrs...I decided to go
to the ski slopes to show them skiing at Georgian Bay and
points south, as there are a few...maybe even get in
some tubing...hahahahaha....On the way, for some reason
I went south and ended up in Niagara Falls, even though
WIVB TV had shown RED advisorys for their area.....and
it turned into a wonderful day with pictures and all...
and they saw the ICE...all over...as well noticed what
we know...that they turned off the falls nearly in the
winter...alowing just enough to flow to make it look
good.... hahahaha.

The South Simcoe Railway has a site, and pictures of the
tubes in the restoration of #136. I have the video of
#136 and I was rather sad that it has been in restoration
for this time. The plate on the engine, says
Rebuilt in Montreal 1914 .... When I get my snappy going
I snap the picture of the plate and send you.

Inside the passenger coach is an ad for a Michigan Railway
and train travel .... I also can snappy them too...

The names don't look familar....only Bomdardier on it's
own does...for jets and snowmobiles.

Double-decker buses? Really? Open or closed? I have
seen open in Toronto.

Havn't had a chance to snap any trains on the tracks nearby
but a few nights ago, I had an erie reminder of it all
when I heard the sound of a engine's horn...it was so nice
and a reminder of easy times.

I think that is the problem with South Simcoe Railway and
most historical railways....getting voluteers who know
what they are doing .... one can really apprecitae what
they are doing when you see pictures like they have posted.

I guess it is a dirty job, almost like in a ship doing the
shaft for the propeller. That has to be the bottom job of
jobs...but someone must do it.

I hate to think that we'll loose the living history that
these engines provide and also the small of burning coal.

I never knew you were an engineer warren. Or perhaps
a volunteer with qualifications to just drive one...
wow,,,how mnay kids wanted to be train engineers when
they grew up .... How times have changed.

I am not going to comment on your comments of my -20c
and colder with wind chill....as the lake has frozen early
so much for Global warming....phooey!

No problem with the days on the beach...as in less then
3 weeks...they'll be back in BRASIL....Maria with them
on the BEACH ....while me and Muttso freeze up here.

Oh no .... you got your radio controlled SHARK going for
for the summer slickers? hahahahaha

  Peter VE3WBZ

PS: Almost forgot you asking "doh" ...whether or not you
will make it to 100 years? I'd say..you got the better
chance, as I have more things wrong, enough specialists
    enough pills, and test..poke..push...pull...jab...yeah
   you'll make it.
