I assume a helium balloon rises because the total density (of molecules)
of the balloon is lesser than air. The gravity has lesser effect on an
object that is lesser dense. (We don't know what gravity is)
Hot air is lesser dense than cold air, so in the livingroom it is
hotter near the ceiling. There is timber that is very dense compared
with regular wood, so it sinks in water. In 1937 the german zeppelin
(designed by the count Zeppelin) used H2 gas which was very dangerous.
In Europe they want to build huge Zeppelins again for the (cheap) transport
of cargo.

The water is denser than the container. Because of this the container
rises. At the surface it meets the air which is lesser dense than
the container. At the surface there is a balance. If the container
would be filled with eg. water one could make a balance situation:
the container would not rise nor sink. (submarine)
