Ensure you use the halogen bulbs encapsulated with the reflector and a
glass window . The naked bulb gives a lot of UV radiation which could be
harmful especially when the bulb is less than say half a metre from human
tissue. (Risk of skin cancer)
I use a number of these 20W bulbs on a rail above the shack's operating
desk. The light is indeed bright and very pleasant for reading etc.
With my radio gear I run them on 12 V batteries.
Note : the naked bulbs are fine when not near human tissue ,but the
reflector ,also exposed , deteriorates quicker than the one in the
encapsulated unit.
