Has any one experience with recovering a Sony Vaio laptop (notebook),
especially the VGN-A517S ?
I have wiped the hard drive and reloaded the lot from the manufacturers
installation and recovery disks. So far so good. I found there is a non
windows recovery partition. This was reinstalled and used.
The Adobe would not update (fault was the installation file was on the
recovery partition what is non windows). So I took a look at the Sony web
site and it told me to uninstall Adobe and reinstall from the (Adobe) web
site, that worked, all OK.
The problem....
I cannot watch video, not just the DVD-ROM, but the telly adaptor, a
digital (like a set top box) USB pen receiver. So it looks like the video
driver is at fault. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled. Still not
working. However I can hear the audio part of the video. All I get is a
black window.
I even tried the screen settings and looked as far as I can at the Sony
Web site. Still no hope.
Anyone out there have any ideas?
Thanks for your time. I'll let you know if I find a fix for this one.
