It's an incompatibility between something and probably a Firefox extension.
Yes, that's a vague answer. But as it appeared after updating Firefox and
AVG it's most likely going to be those two.

Gosh you must have a fast machine to run all that stuff! I only use
Zonealarm. Occasionally I give the machine a onceover with AdAware. Virus
scanners... I don't bother with them as they dont work.
Uninstall any Firefox extensions and then try reinstalling them.
If you haven't got any extensions installed, try removing Firefox and
reinstalling. Make sure you download the latest version 1st.
Or remove AVG and reinstall. But make sure you get one of the two
completely updated before installing the next programme.
This problem has been occuring randomly for 2 years or so but sadly the
definitive fix instructions dont seem to exist.
It's a real downer when this kind of thing happens when you have done
everything right and you still get bitten.
