SSB (in fact, to a very good approximation I don't use SSB at all) so my
radio's VOX sensitivity doesn't have to be juggled to suit both modes. You
do need to remember to mute the sound card's line input in the settings for
the output level. Remember as well to turn off your Windows sounds so you
don't send them out over the air.
Some PSK programs (e.g. PSKGNR, Logger) can use a serial port interfaced to
the radio for radio control purposes to handle the PTT chores. This seems
like an elegant solution to me, but it's not available in all PSK31
programs.
WM2U has some great information on interfacing for PSK at his web site
(www.qsl.net/wm2u/interface.html), which is also accessible from
www.psk31.com . There is also a page at the www.psk31.com website called
PCErrata, which describes some of the other interfacing problems you might
run into.
I hope this answers some of your questions.

I think he's talking about multiple sets of signals on his receive
display which means the distortion must be in his receiver or sound
card (unless of course everyone he has copied is over driving).

Many soundcards are notoriously easy to overdrive and then they distort
like mad. Perhaps what you are seeing is the result of distortion in your
soundcard - if so, your interface has nothing to do with what you see.
Try running your soundcard at the lowest possible output level. Check the
waveform with a scope with the program in IDLE. You should see a
sinusoidal two-tone pattern on the audio. Check your r-f output envelope
- should be the same two-tone. Any clipping, flat-topping or other
distortion is quickly seen on the scope. If your soundcard is "Economy
Class" to borrow an airline term, you might need to invest in a better
one

What radio are you using--older tubers and hybrids will drift, and w/1 hz
tuning, this can cause a major problem....
And check your sound card settings,on both TX and RX and level them up to
where
you are recieving copy when you click on a signal, and, putting out rf.
Also, make sure you don't have the squelch threshold set too high.
Finally, using Digipan, the AFC should be clicked on,(and the SNAP helps tune in
signals as well).
The HELP files should cover most of this.
See you on PSK910/15/17M)

No offense intended, but the RigBlaster is the ultimate demonstration
of an appliance operator.
The interface I built for my radio consists of two small transformers,
a diode, 4N25 optocoupler, a pot and a couple of resistors. Not rocket
science.

Too much audio from your sound card into the transmitter. If your rig
has an ALC meter for this purpose, use it. You don't want any ALC when
working PSK31 (which requires a linear transmitter).

Perhaps your transceiver has an offset between transmit and receive?
Could be quite likely if it is old.
